After 2019, Truffle Bay and The Hamptons Bay could once again win two of the prestigious »German Design Awards for Excellent Communications Design« in the 2020 competition. Our work for the new Jelbi brand of Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG) and the Integrated Annual Report 2018 of EnBW Energie Baden-Württemberg AG were honored.
GOLD for Jelbi in the category »Brand Identity«
Jelbi is BVG's new intermodal Mobility-as-a-Service platform and connects Berlin's public transport system with a wide range of sharing offers – in one app and at major traffic hubs in the city: flexible, convenient, sustainable. Truffle Bay and The Hamptons Bay developed the brand positioning for the new brand and, based on this, a versatile design system with a characteristic pattern inspired by the routes, intersections and dynamic movements of urban mobility as the most striking element. The »Gold« award stands for excellence in international design and is only awarded to the best of the best – and only once per category.
From the statement of the jury: »A contemporary, characteristic, highly-recognizable brand design, which together with the simple pictograms and the ›Jelb‹ wordmark is easy to understand, arouses curiosity, looks cool and casual and offers flexible application possibilities. Its young, fresh style fits perfectly with the capital.«

WINNER for the EnBW Annual Report 2018 in the category »Editorial«
Truffle Bay and The Hamptons Bay were responsible for the concept, editing and design of the title and image section of the Integrated Annual Report 2018 with the motto »E-MOTION« and the focus on electromobility – one of EnBW's central future topics in the course of its transformation from a traditional energy supplier to an innovative and sustainable infrastructure partner. The main conceptual idea of the visual implementation is the »draft« theme, in which the man-made brushstroke is used to illustrate EnBW's future topics.
From the statement of the jury: »As the analog mark of a human hand, the brushstroke attracts attention and arouses curiosity. At the same time, it embodies the fact that the EnBW will always put people first, whatever changes technology might bring in the future. This statement is reflected in both form and content throughout the entire report in the form of an ›E‹, highlighting the company’s future strategy as a partner for energy and infrastructure.«

The German Design Award the international premium prize of the German Design Council. Its goal: discovering, presenting and awarding unique design trends. Every year, top-quality submissions from product and communications design are awarded, all of which are in their own way ground-breaking in the international design landscape. The German Design Award, started in 2012, is already one of the best-known design competitions in the world and is held in high regard well beyond professional circles.
